ASV So that men shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: Verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.

AMP Men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges on the earth.”

AMPC Men will say, Surely there is a reward for the [uncompromisingly] righteous; surely there is a God Who judges on the earth.

Uncompromisingly.

BRG So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

In the earth. I remember doing a thing called a Bible Bowl when I was younger. We were quizzed about the Bible. I got a question about The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:2-4). I said on earth, as many do, and not in earth. I was wrong. Words matter. On is like the outside and the pretty satellite pictures they show. In is what is contained, exists inside the earth…

CSB Then people will say, “Yes, there is a reward for the righteous! There is a God who judges on earth!”

What He does will be done openly for all to see that He is God and He takes care of the righteous.

CEB Then it will be said: “Yes, there is a reward for the righteous! Yes, there is a God who judges people on the earth.”

CJB The righteous will rejoice to see vengeance done, they will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked;

Yo. The chuckle. Well. 🤷🏾‍♀️

CEV Everyone will say, “It’s true! Good people are rewarded. God does rule the earth with justice.”

Good people are rewarded. But, better yet, He rules with justice. People get what they deserve.

DARBY And men shall say, Verily there is fruit for the righteous; verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Fruit. Something healthy. Sweet. Delicious. Beneficial. Good for you. Life giving. Reward of course.

DRA My God, his mercy shall prevent me.

So interesting some days…

ERV Then people will say, “Good people really are rewarded. Yes, there is a God judging the world!”

EHV Then people will say, “Surely there is fruit for the righteous. Surely there is a God judging on the earth.”

ESV Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

ESVUK Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

EXB Then people will say, “There really are ·rewards [fruits] for ·doing what is right [the righteous]. There really is a God who judges the ·world [earth; land].”

GNV And men shall say, Verily there is fruit for the righteous; doubtless there is a God that judgeth in the earth.

DOUBTLESS!

GW Then people will say, “Righteous people certainly have a reward. There is a God who judges on earth.”

GNT People will say, “The righteous are indeed rewarded; there is indeed a God who judges the world.”

HCSB Then people will say, “Yes, there is a reward for the righteous! There is a God who judges on earth!”

ICB Then people will say, “There really are rewards for doing what is right. There really is a God who judges the world.”

ISV A person will say, “Certainly, the righteous are rewarded; certainly there is a God who judges the earth.”

Certainly.

JUB So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges in the earth.

Verily. I kept reading but came back. I skipped over it above. Jesus says it a lot in the New Testament KJV. I didn’t realize it showed up in the Old Testament. I’m sure I’ve read it. I’ve read all of the book of Psalms. But not as intentionally as I’ve been reading the Bible lately. Merriam-Webster defines it as in truth, certainly, truly, confidently.

KJV So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

AKJV So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

LEB And people will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous. Surely there is a God who judges in the land.”

TLB Then at last everyone will know that good is rewarded, and that there is a God who judges justly here on earth.

Judges justly. Not with bias or corruptly.

MSG The righteous will call up their friends when they see the wicked get their reward, Serve up their blood in goblets as they toast one another, Everyone cheering, “It’s worth it to play by the rules! God’s handing out trophies and tending the earth!”

The imagery. My chuckle and headshake. But….

MEV and people will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on the earth.”

NOG Then people will say, “Righteous people certainly have a reward. There is an Elohim who judges on earth.”

NABRE Then the just shall rejoice to see the vengeance and bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.

Um.

NASB And people will say, “There certainly is a reward for the righteous; There certainly is a God who judges on the earth!”

NASB1995 And men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges on earth!”

NCV Then people will say, “There really are rewards for doing what is right. There really is a God who judges the world.”

Really. Really. Frfr.

NET Then observers will say, “Yes indeed, the godly are rewarded. Yes indeed, there is a God who judges in the earth.”

Yes indeed!

NIRV Then people will say, “The godly will get their reward. There really is a God who judges the earth.”

NIV Then people will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.”

NIVUK Then people will say, ‘Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.’

NKJV So that men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely He is God who judges in the earth.”

Surely. Skippwd over it a bunch. But surely. Without doubt. No question.

NLV And men will say, “For sure there is pay for those who are right and good. For sure there is a God Who says who is guilty or not on the earth.”

For sure. There is pay.

NLT Then at last everyone will say, “There truly is a reward for those who live for God; surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”

Then at last. After the struggle ends. After time has passed. Eventually. At some point.

NRSV People will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

NRSVA People will say, ‘Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.’

NRSVACE People will say, ‘Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.’

NRSVCE People will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

OJB So that adam shall say, Verily there is a reward for the tzaddik; verily yesh Elohim Shofetim ba’aretz (there is a G-d that judgeth in the earth).

TPT Then everyone will say, “There is a God who judges the judges” and “There is a great reward in loving God!”

Judges the judges. Great reward in loving God.

RSV Men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

RSVCE Men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

TLV The righteous one will rejoice when he beholds vengeance, when he washes his feet in the blood of the wicked.

Speechless. But that behold. Look at. See.

VOICE And it will be heard, “Those who seek justice will be rewarded. Indeed, there is a God who brings justice to the earth!”

Those who seek justice will be rewarded. God who brings justice.

WEB so that men shall say, “Most certainly there is a reward for the righteous. Most certainly there is a God who judges the earth.”

Not just certainly. Most certainly.

WYC And a man shall say truly, For fruit is to a just man; truly God is deeming them in earth. (And someone shall say, Truly there is a reward for the righteous; truly God is judging people here on earth.)

Deeming. Per Merriam-Webster, to come to think or judge, consider.

YLT And man saith: `Surely fruit [is] for the righteous: Surely there is a God judging in the earth!’

MEANING: God My Helper

VERSE: Psalm 54:4

As soon as I saw the meaning I said this is finna be bomb. I also happened to be listening to Fred Hammond’s “God Is My Refuge: with lyrics that include “a very present help in the time of trouble” (the song is just Psalm 46:1).

KJ21 Behold, God is mine helper; the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

Yep, yep.

ASV Behold, God is my helper: The Lord is of them that uphold my soul.

AMP Behold, God is my helper and ally; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul [my upholder].

Sustainer of my soul.

AMPC Behold, God is my helper and ally; the Lord is my upholder and is with them who uphold my life.

Ally. Stands up for me. Fights for me.

BRG Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

CSB God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my life.

Sustainer of my life. The use, seemingly as synonyms, denotes what many believe. Our soul is our life source and what exists when our bodies cease to.

CEB But look here: God is my helper; my Lord sustains my life.

Lol. But look here. Pay attention. I got something to say.

Guarding my life. When God’s got you He’s got those who He’s assigned to help and take care of you. How much He cares….

MEANING: The God of Glory

VERSE: Psalm 29:3

KJ21 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thundereth; the Lord is upon many waters.

The first and last parts reminds me of Jehovah in Genesis 2:4. The middle speaks to the power of God.

ASV The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters: The God of glory thundereth, Even Jehovah upon many waters.

Well I guess I was right to be reminded of Jehovah. I do so much formatting to start with then read each translation individually. I truly, don’t really see the coincidences or similarities below whatever I write until I get to it. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

AMP The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters.

I read on past this to BRG but had to come back. Over many waters. Water is the most prevalent thing on Earth. Per science, there may be water elsewhere in our universe. There are theories that multiple universes exist. So, it is possible that there is so much water that we don’t even know about. God is over it all. He is so big. Romans 11:33 says O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

AMPC The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is upon many (great) waters.

BRG The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.

CSB The voice of the Lord is above the waters. The God of glory thunders— the Lord, above the vast water,

Above. Over. A king on His throne.

CEB The Lord’s voice is over the waters; the glorious God thunders; the Lord is over the mighty waters.

CJB The voice of Adonai is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, Adonai over rushing waters,

Adonai. Master over all.

CEV The voice of the Lord echoes over the oceans. The glorious Lord God thunders above the roar of the raging sea,

Duuuuuuude. Like. The roar of the raging sea is powerful. But God thunders above it. He is more powerful than that. Jesus, God in the flesh, spoke peace to the wind and sea (Mark 4:39). He was more powerful than that storm. And today. The name of Jesus, still Jesus himself, is more powerful than ANY storm we face.

DARBY The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth,—Jehovah upon great waters.

DRA O Lord my God, I have cried to thee, and then hast healed me.

This is the second time I’ve noticed how completely different this translation is from the others. And I’m here for it. I love these words.

ERV The Lord’s voice can be heard over the sea. The voice of our glorious Lord God is like thunder over the great ocean.

EHV The voice of the Lord is heard over the waters. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders above the mighty waters.

ESV The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters.

God of glory.

ESVUK The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters.

EXB The Lord’s voice [C thunder] is heard over the ·sea [L waters; C a symbol of chaos]. The glorious God thunders; the Lord thunders over the ·ocean [L many/mighty waters].

His voice is the thunder. His voice is the power/powerful. Man.

GNV The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory maketh it to thunder: the Lord is upon the great waters.

GW The voice of the Lord rolls over the water. The God of glory thunders. The Lord shouts over raging water.

GNT The voice of the Lord is heard on the seas; the glorious God thunders, and his voice echoes over the ocean.

HCSB The voice of the Lord is above the waters. The God of glory thunders— the Lord, above vast waters,

ICB The Lord’s voice is heard over the sea. The glorious God thunders. The Lord thunders over the great ocean.

ISV The voice of the Lord was heard above the waters; the God of glory thundered; the Lord was heard over many waters.

JUB The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters.

Many waters. I saw it one way earlier. But now. Many. A lot. Multiple things. He is God over all. All humans. All things. All problems. All issues. All circumstances. All things we face and deal with. All hurt. All pain. ALL disappointment. All. Every thing. Everything. But not just Him. His voice. His word. His Word. His promises. The same Voice that spoke and created everything that exists. The same Voice that spoke peace. It is the same Voice, Word, promise that will speak over us if we allow Him to.

KJV The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.

AKJV The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.

LEB The voice of Yahweh is over the waters; the God of glory thunders. Yahweh is over many waters.

TLB The voice of the Lord echoes from the clouds. The God of glory thunders through the skies.

I saw echo earlier and kept going. But man. To me, an echo is a leftover sound or vibration from an original sound. The voice of the Lord is so powerful that His echo, the leftover sound, vibration, has power.

MSG God thunders across the waters, Brilliant, his voice and his face, streaming brightness— God, across the flood waters.

Old faithful MSG. The vivid imagery of the words.

MEV The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters.

NOG The voice of Yahweh rolls over the water. The El of glory thunders. Yahweh shouts over raging water.

Again. I skipped over rolls. If you roll somewhere you are constantly in motion. Until you come across and obstacle, lose momentum, or stop making yourself roll, you will continue covering whatever surface you are on. Running, in this context, seems to be like a shirt term, fixed point of impact or power. You stop and start and hit the ground hard. The power of God is a continuous motion. I am about to be no good today. Geeze.

Shining greatness.

NRSV The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over mighty waters.

Isaiah 23-24 The Message MSG

My words will be italicized wherever they appear. Should the Bible be italicized near my words, I’ll do something to differentiate them.

Isaiah 23

It Was All Numbers, Dead Numbers, Profit and Loss

1-4 Wail, ships of Tarshish,
your strong seaports all in ruins!
When the ships returned from Cyprus,
    they saw the destruction.
Hold your tongue, you who live on the seacoast,
    merchants of Sidon.
Your people sailed the deep seas,
    buying and selling,
Making money on wheat from Shihor,
    grown along the Nile—
    multinational broker in grains!
Hang your head in shame, Sidon. The Sea speaks up,
the powerhouse of the ocean says,
“I’ve never had labor pains, never had a baby,
    never reared children to adulthood,
Never gave life, never worked with life.
It was all numbers, dead numbers, profit and loss.”

When Egypt gets the report on Tyre,
what wailing! what wringing of hands!

Here we go. No games.

Nothing Left Here to Be Proud Of

6-12 Visit Tarshish, you who live on the seacoast.
Take a good, long look and wail—yes, cry buckets of tears!
Is this the city you remember as energetic and alive,
bustling with activity, this historic old city,
Expanding throughout the globe,
buying and selling all over the world?
And who is behind the collapse of Tyre,
the Tyre that controlled the world markets?
Tyre’s merchants were the business tycoons.
Tyre’s traders called all the shots.
God-of-the-Angel-Armies ordered the crash
to show the sordid backside of pride
    and puncture the inflated reputations.
Sail for home, O ships of Tarshish.
There are no docks left in this harbor.
God reached out to the sea and sea traders,
threw the sea kingdoms into turmoil.
God ordered the destruction
of the seacoast cities, the centers of commerce.
God said, “There’s nothing left here to be proud of,
    bankrupt and bereft Sidon.
Do you want to make a new start in Cyprus?
Don’t count on it. Nothing there will work out for you either.”

Tarshish made me think of Paul formerly known as Saul (Acts 9:11). But it is also where Jonah fled to (Jonah 1:3) …

13 Look at what happened to Babylon: There’s nothing left of it. Assyria turned it into a desert, into a refuge for wild dogs and stray cats. They brought in their big siege engines, tore down the buildings, and left nothing behind but rubble.

14 Wail, ships of Tarshish,
your strong seaports all in ruins!

15-16 For the next seventy years, a king’s lifetime, Tyre will be forgotten. At the end of the seventy years, Tyre will stage a comeback, but it will be the comeback of a worn-out whore, as in the song:

Threescore and ten a.k.a. 70 (Psalm 90:10 KJV).

“Take a harp, circle the city,
    unremembered whore.
Sing your old songs, your many old songs.
    Maybe someone will remember.”

Gosh.

17-18 At the end of the seventy years, God will look in on Tyre. She’ll go back to her old whoring trade, selling herself to the highest bidder, doing anything with anyone—promiscuous with all the kingdoms of earth—for a fee. But everything she gets, all the money she takes in, will be turned over to God. It will not be put in banks. Her profits will be put to the use of God-Aware, God-Serving-People, providing plenty of food and the best of clothing.

Wellst.

Isaiah 24

The Landscape Will Be a Moonscape

1-3 Danger ahead! God’s about to ravish the earth
    and leave it in ruins,
Rip everything out by the roots
    and send everyone scurrying:
        priests and laypeople alike,
        owners and workers alike,
        celebrities and nobodies alike,
        buyers and sellers alike,
        bankers and beggars alike,
        the haves and have-nots alike.
The landscape will be a moonscape,
    totally wasted.
And why? Because God says so.
    He’s issued the orders.

Hw wasn’t playin. From the root. He wanted that dead dead.

The earth turns gaunt and gray,
    the world silent and sad,
    sky and land lifeless, colorless.

Well He spoke and created it in Genesis 1 so….

Earth Polluted by Its Very Own People

5-13 Earth is polluted by its very own people,
    who have broken its laws,
Disrupted its order,
violated the sacred and eternal covenant.
Therefore a curse, like a cancer,
    ravages the earth.
Its people pay the price of their sacrilege.
They dwindle away, dying out one by one.
No more wine, no more vineyards,
    no more songs or singers.
The laughter of castanets is gone,
    the shouts of celebrants, gone,
    the laughter of fiddles, gone.
No more parties with toasts of champagne.
Serious drinkers gag on their drinks.
The chaotic cities are unlivable. Anarchy reigns.
Every house is boarded up, condemned.
People riot in the streets for wine,
but the good times are gone forever—
no more joy for this old world.
The city is dead and deserted,
    bulldozed into piles of rubble.
That’s the way it will be on this earth.
This is the fate of all nations:
An olive tree shaken clean of its olives,
a grapevine picked clean of its grapes.

But the promise of new vines and Jesus’s/Jesus’ (idk) mentioning vines in John 15.

14-16 But there are some who will break into glad song.
Out of the west they’ll shout of God’s majesty.
Yes, from the east God’s glory will ascend.
    Every island of the sea
Will broadcast God’s fame,
the fame of the God of Israel.
From the four winds and the seven seas we hear the singing:
“All praise to the Righteous One!”

16-20 But I said, “That’s all well and good for somebody,
but all I can see is doom, doom, and more doom.”
All of them at one another’s throats,
yes, all of them at one another’s throats.
Terror and pits and booby traps
    are everywhere, whoever you are.
If you run from the terror,
    you’ll fall into the pit.
If you climb out of the pit,
you’ll get caught in the trap.
Chaos pours out of the skies.
The foundations of earth are crumbling.
Earth is smashed to pieces,
    earth is ripped to shreds,
earth is wobbling out of control,
Earth staggers like a drunk,
sways like a shack in a high wind.
Its piled-up sins are too much for it.
It collapses and won’t get up again.

My, my, my.

21-23 That’s when God will call on the carpet
rebel powers in the skies and
Rebel kings on earth.
They’ll be rounded up like prisoners in a jail,
Corralled and locked up in a jail,
and then sentenced and put to hard labor.
Shamefaced moon will cower, humiliated,
    red-faced sun will skulk, disgraced,
Because God-of-the-Angel-Armies will take over,
ruling from Mount Zion and Jerusalem,
Splendid and glorious
    before all his leaders.

Um. Okay?

Faithful God. When we were dead in sins and trespasses (Ephesians 2:1 King James Version (KJV)) He was STILL there. Because he is FAITHFUL!!!

He won’t fail to save me according to Jude 24-25. I know where I’ll spend eternity because God won’t fail. Heaven and earth may pass away. But, God’s word will never fail Matthew 24:35.

Isaiah 12-14 The Message MSG

Isaiah 12

My Strength and Song

1 And you will say in that day,
    “I thank you, God.
You were angry
    but your anger wasn’t forever.
You withdrew your anger
and moved in and comforted me.

God, who is rich in mercy…Ephesians 2:4 King James Version (KJV)

“Yes, indeed—God is my salvation.
    I trust, I won’t be afraid.
God—yes God!—is my strength and song,
    best of all, my salvation!”

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 KJV

3-4 Joyfully you’ll pull up buckets of water
    from the wells of salvation.
And as you do it, you’ll say,
    “Give thanks to God.
Call out his name.
    Ask him anything!
Shout to the nations, tell them what he’s done,
spread the news of his great reputation!

5-6 “Sing praise-songs to God. He’s done it all!
Let the whole earth know what he’s done!
Raise the roof! Sing your hearts out, O Zion!
The Greatest lives among you: The Holy of Israel.”

Bahahaha. Raise the roof. I cannot. I am unable. Anywho. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:6 KJV. My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Psalm 57:7 KJV

Isaiah 13

Babylon Is Doomed!

1 The Message on Babylon. Isaiah son of Amoz saw it:

2-3 “Run up a flag on an open hill.
    Yell loud. Get their attention.
Wave them into formation.
Direct them to the nerve center of power.
I’ve taken charge of my special forces,
    called up my crack troops.
They’re bursting with pride and passion
to carry out my angry judgment.”

4-5 Thunder rolls off the mountains
like a mob huge and noisy—
Thunder of kingdoms in an uproar,
    nations assembling for war.
God-of-the-Angel-Armies is calling
    his army into battle formation.
They come from far-off countries,
they pour in across the horizon.
It’s God on the move with the weapons of his wrath,
ready to destroy the whole country.

6-8 Wail! God’s Day of Judgment is near—
an avalanche crashing down from the Strong God!
Everyone paralyzed in the panic,
    hysterical and unstrung,
Doubled up in pain
like a woman giving birth to a baby.
Horrified—everyone they see
is like a face out of a nightmare.

Thanks Adam and Eve. She ate the fruit first. He didn’t have to too. Thanks to them both.

9-16 “Watch now. God’s Judgment Day comes.
Cruel it is, a day of wrath and anger,
A day to waste the earth
and clean out all the sinners.
The stars in the sky, the great parade of constellations,
will be nothing but black holes.
The sun will come up as a black disk,
and the moon a blank nothing.
I’ll put a full stop to the evil on earth,
terminate the dark acts of the wicked.
I’ll gag all braggarts and boasters—not a peep anymore from them—
and trip strutting tyrants, leave them flat on their faces.
Proud humanity will disappear from the earth.
I’ll make mortals rarer than hens’ teeth.
And yes, I’ll even make the sky shake,
and the earth quake to its roots
Under the wrath of God-of-the-Angel-Armies,
the Judgment Day of his raging anger.
Like a hunted white-tailed deer,
like lost sheep with no shepherd,
People will huddle with a few of their own kind,
run off to some makeshift shelter.
But tough luck to stragglers—they’ll be killed on the spot,
    throats cut, bellies ripped open,
Babies smashed on the rocks
    while mothers and fathers watch,
Houses looted,
    wives raped.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. I cannot. When God is over us He is over us and does not play!

17-22 “And now watch this:
Against Babylon, I’m inciting the Medes,
A ruthless bunch indifferent to bribes,
the kind of brutality that no one can blunt.
They massacre the young,
wantonly kick and kill even babies.
And Babylon, most glorious of all kingdoms,
the pride and joy of Chaldeans,
Will end up smoking and stinking like Sodom,
and, yes, like Gomorrah, when God had finished with them.
No one will live there anymore,
generation after generation a ghost town.
Not even Bedouins will pitch tents there.
Shepherds will give it a wide berth.
But strange and wild animals will like it just fine,
filling the vacant houses with eerie night sounds.
Skunks will make it their home,
and unspeakable night hags will haunt it.
Hyenas will curdle your blood with their laughing,
and the howling of coyotes will give you the shivers.

“Babylon is doomed.
    It won’t be long now.”

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19 KJV. I heard someone say something along the lines of “God can get them better than I can”. Facts.

Isaiah 14

Now You Are Nothing

1-2 But not so with Jacob. God will have compassion on Jacob. Once again he’ll choose Israel. He’ll establish them in their own country. Outsiders will be attracted and throw their lot in with Jacob. The nations among whom they lived will actually escort them back home, and then Israel will pay them back by making slaves of them, men and women alike, possessing them as slaves in God’s country, capturing those who had captured them, ruling over those who had abused them.

Psalm 110:1 KJV The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Psalm 23:5 KJV Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies…

3-4 When God has given you time to recover from the abuse and trouble and harsh servitude that you had to endure, you can amuse yourselves by taking up this satire, a taunt against the king of Babylon:

Um say what now? Pettiness you say? Tuh.

4-6 Can you believe it? The tyrant is gone!
    The tyranny is over!
God has broken the rule of the wicked,
    the power of the bully-rulers
That crushed many people.
A relentless rain of cruel outrage
Established a violent rule of anger
    rife with torture and persecution.

7-10 And now it’s over, the whole earth quietly at rest.
Burst into song! Make the rafters ring!
Ponderosa pine trees are happy,
giant Lebanon cedars are relieved, saying,
“Since you’ve been cut down,
there’s no one around to cut us down.”
And the underworld dead are all excited,
preparing to welcome you when you come.
Getting ready to greet you are the ghostly dead,
all the famous names of earth.
All the buried kings of the nations
will stand up on their thrones
With well-prepared speeches,
    royal invitations to death:
“Now you are as nothing as we are!
Make yourselves at home with us dead folks!”

11 This is where your pomp and fine music led you, Babylon,
    to your underworld private chambers,
A king-size mattress of maggots for repose
and a quilt of crawling worms for warmth.

Eeeek

12 What a comedown this, O Babylon!
    Daystar! Son of Dawn!
Flat on your face in the underworld mud,
    you, famous for flattening nations!

13-14 You said to yourself,
    “I’ll climb to heaven.
I’ll set my throne
    over the stars of God.
I’ll run the assembly of angels
that meets on sacred Mount Zaphon.
I’ll climb to the top of the clouds.
I’ll take over as King of the Universe!”

15-17 But you didn’t make it, did you?
Instead of climbing up, you came down—
Down with the underground dead,
down to the abyss of the Pit.
People will stare and muse:
    “Can this be the one
Who terrorized earth and its kingdoms,
    turned earth to a moonscape,
Wasted its cities,
shut up his prisoners to a living death?”

18-20 Other kings get a decent burial,
honored with eulogies and placed in a tomb.
But you’re dumped in a ditch unburied,
like a stray dog or cat,
Covered with rotting bodies,
    murdered and indigent corpses.
Your dead body desecrated, mutilated—
    no state funeral for you!
You’ve left your land in ruins,
    left a legacy of massacre.
The progeny of your evil life
    will never be named. Oblivion!

21 Get a place ready to slaughter the sons of the wicked
and wipe out their father’s line.
Unthinkable that they should own a square foot of land
or desecrate the face of the world with their cities!

22-23 “I will confront them”—Decree of God-of-the-Angel-Armies—“and strip Babylon of name and survivors, children and grandchildren.” God’s Decree. “I’ll make it a worthless swamp and give it as a prize to the hedgehog. And then I’ll bulldoze it out of existence.” Decree of God-of-the-Angel-Armies.

Who Could Ever Cancel Such Plans?

24-27 God-of-the-Angel-Armies speaks:

“Exactly as I planned,
    it will happen.
Following my blueprints,
    it will take shape.
I will shatter the Assyrian who trespasses my land
and stomp him into the dirt on my mountains.
I will ban his taking and making of slaves
and lift the weight of oppression from all shoulders.”
This is the plan,
    planned for the whole earth,
And this is the hand that will do it,
    reaching into every nation.
God-of-the-Angel-Armies has planned it.
Who could ever cancel such plans?
His is the hand that’s reached out.
    Who could brush it aside?

28-31 In the year King Ahaz died, this Message came:

Hold it, Philistines! It’s too soon to celebrate
the defeat of your cruel oppressor.
From the death throes of that snake a worse snake will come,
and from that, one even worse.
The poor won’t have to worry.
The needy will escape the terror.
But you Philistines will be plunged into famine,
and those who don’t starve, God will kill.
Wail and howl, proud city!
    Fall prostrate in fear, Philistia!
On the northern horizon, smoke from burned cities,
the wake of a brutal, disciplined destroyer.

32 What does one say to
    outsiders who ask questions?
Tell them, “God has established Zion.
Those in need and in trouble find refuge in her.”

Words, Words, Words

All I had as a draft was the title. Ima see what I come up with.

Words matter. Sentence structure matters. Semantics. The English language is one of the hardest to learn for a person for whom English is not their first language. So many words sound the same but are spelled the same. The silent letters. The rules. Sure, for English speakers, other languages may be difficult. I learned Spanish. Their rules make a lot more sense than some of those I remember from my English classes. There are a multitude, a litany of exceptions for our words. For the most part, Spanish rules are pretty constant.

Lissen. Those last couple of sentences are sending me somewhere I cannot go. Lol. Just ponder them and see what you come up with. 😉

The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). James 3 is a whole situation about the tongue and our mouths. He talks about how small they are and how much fire they can kindle. The thing that I thought of is his question in verse 11: Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter.

When reading it to put a couple of other things here I was also reminded of verses 9 and 10: Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

God spoke and created the earth. Go catch that first chapter of Genesis. Throughout the ENTIRE Bible, the words, promises of God and His vessels, Jesus shift lives and entire nations. Over and over again.

My thing is this. God breathed His breath into man in Genesis. Jesus promised us power to do greater works he did (John 14:12). He stated that things could be spoken to or spoke to them (fig tree, mountains, demons, wind and sea). So, if God spoke, Jesus spoke and promised us greater works than him, if we speak, we have the ability to have what we say.

It is so very crucial as believers to only speak positively and what God says. When I say what God says, I mean speak His word. The Bible. And, if He speaks to you personally, say that as well. Saying what God says isn’t 100% literal though. We have to speak well of, about, and to each other. With kind words. That is the essence of His Word and those who wrote under His inspiration.

Many of us were called things contrary to the plan of God for our lives. Many of us were called things contrary to who God made us. People didn’t know better or they passed their issues onto us. Some of us began to become what others said we were. Some of us began to call ourselves what others called us.

I thought about that thang one day. And you know what I did? I put the Word on it! I bound it because Jesus said what I bind on earth would be bound in heaven. I loosed what God thinks, what He says because he said what I loose on earth would be loosed in heaven (all bof of em are Matthew 18:18). I cursed it at the root and sent it back to the pit of hell where it belongs (churchy phrase with likely origins to that fig tree mentioned abouve).

I submit to you today, that if you are struggling with your words, study to be quiet (1 Thessalonians 4:11). Study the Word. Say things the way they should be said and say only what should be said. Not idle, wasteful things. I’m working on this myself as I believe I stated elsewhere.

If you are struggling with the words of others, study the word to find out who God and His vessels say we are. This. This. This. This. And this are great places to start.

Be Still, Be Quiet, Be Organized

Psalm 46:10 (KJV) Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 (KJV) And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

1 Corinthians 14:40 (KJV) Let all things be done decently and in order.

1 Kings 19:12 (KJV) And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

I probably should have, at least could have, quoted these scriptures the other day when I was talking about chaos and organization.

Today I thought about how we are so busy and have so much going on.

We pray but it’s a one-sided conversation. We tell God what we want and what’s wrong. We tell God what we need. I’m sure we thank Him. We tell Him who He is (Jehovah, omnipotent, etc.). Then we go our way.

The cares of life consume us. We don’t sit still or in prayer to wait to hear from Him. I’m using ehe collective we. This isn’t all, 100% of God’s children.

We have cluttered minds and homes. We stay talking, moving, and doing. We expect God to just show up. More of this line of thought I just can’t seem to get away from.

But, we haven’t stopped to gauge if all of what we are saying and doing line up with His will for us. We expect big, huge, grandiose things and answers. Um but that ain’t always how He moves.

The principle of meditation is appropriate for believers. I haven’t studied its original but I’m willing to guess someone took prayer and flipped it, expanded it, and meditation is here.

I advise us to make real, actual time a s space for God. To be still. To be quiet. To be organized. Naturally. Emotionally. Physically. Spiritually. I promise you it will change your life. It’s changed mine!
