It was at this moment that I finally caught the rock and salvation references. In Matthew 16, Jesus asked the disciples who men said he was. They said the people said all kind of stuff. Bold Simon said he was the son of God. Jesus said flesh and blood didn’t reveal it but his father in heaven. He changed his name to Peter, Petras, rock. Jesus told him upon that rock he would build his church. Then the Holy Ghost came after they obeyed Jesus and waited for the promised comforter mentioned in John (Acts 1; Acts 2). Peter spoke up and provided the people with what Jesus laid out as the plan of salvation (John 3:5; Acts 2). Aaaaaahhhhhh.

MEANING: God My Helper

VERSE: Psalm 54:4

As soon as I saw the meaning I said this is finna be bomb. I also happened to be listening to Fred Hammond’s “God Is My Refuge: with lyrics that include “a very present help in the time of trouble” (the song is just Psalm 46:1).

KJ21 Behold, God is mine helper; the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

Yep, yep.

Sustainer of my soul.

Ally. Stands up for me. Fights for me.

BRG Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

CSB God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my life.

Sustainer of my life. The use, seemingly as synonyms, denotes what many believe. Our soul is our life source and what exists when our bodies cease to.

CEB But look here: God is my helper; my Lord sustains my life.

Lol. But look here. Pay attention. I got something to say.

Spare my life. Holup. Ima go see what was going on in this chapter. I had a feeling it was David and something was up. Wiki says it was written after he was betrayed by a friend. Makea sense especially when you read the chapter. He had put his trust and confidence in this person. He was disappointed and let down. Then he remembered who God is to him.

ISV Look, God is my helper; the Lord is with those who are guarding my life.

Guarding my life. When God’s got you He’s got those who He’s assigned to help and take care of you. How much He cares….

When I chased my enemies I caught them; I didn’t let go till they were dead men. I nailed them; they were down for good; then I walked all over them. You armed me well for this fight; you smashed the upstarts. You made my enemies turn tail, and I wiped out the haters. They cried “uncle” but Uncle didn’t come; They yelled for God and got no for an answer. I ground them to dust; they gusted in the wind. I threw them out, like garbage in the gutter.
