Isaiah 61-62

My words will be italicized wherever they appear. Should the Bible be italicized near my words, I’ll do something to differentiate them.

Isaiah 61

Announce Freedom to All Captives

1-7 The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me
    because God anointed me.
He sent me to preach good news to the poor,
    heal the heartbroken,
Announce freedom to all captives,
    pardon all prisoners.
God sent me to announce the year of his grace—
a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies—
and to comfort all who mourn,
To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion,
give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes,
Messages of joy instead of news of doom,
a praising heart instead of a languid spirit.
Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness”
planted by God to display his glory.
They’ll rebuild the old ruins,
raise a new city out of the wreckage.
They’ll start over on the ruined cities,
take the rubble left behind and make it new.
You’ll hire outsiders to herd your flocks
and foreigners to work your fields,
But you’ll have the title “Priests of God,”
honored as ministers of our God.
You’ll feast on the bounty of nations,
    you’ll bask in their glory.
Because you got a double dose of trouble
and more than your share of contempt,
Your inheritance in the land will be doubled
and your joy go on forever.

Yas. Hope. Redemption. Recompense. Reward. Restoration. Revival. Okay. I’m done. Lol.

8-9 “Because I, God, love fair dealing
    and hate thievery and crime,
I’ll pay your wages on time and in full,
and establish my eternal covenant with you.
Your descendants will become well-known all over.
    Your children in foreign countries
Will be recognized at once
as the people I have blessed.”

Show out and off.

10-11 I will sing for joy in God,
explode in praise from deep in my soul!
He dressed me up in a suit of salvation,
he outfitted me in a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom who puts on a tuxedo
and a bride a jeweled tiara.
For as the earth bursts with spring wildflowers,
and as a garden cascades with blossoms,
So the Master, God, brings righteousness into full bloom
and puts praise on display before the nations.

The praise n worship.

Isaiah 62

Look, Your Savior Comes!

1-5 Regarding Zion, I can’t keep my mouth shut,
regarding Jerusalem, I can’t hold my tongue,
Until her righteousness blazes down like the sun
and her salvation flames up like a torch.
Foreign countries will see your righteousness,
    and world leaders your glory.
You’ll get a brand-new name
straight from the mouth of God.
You’ll be a stunning crown in the palm of God’s hand,
a jeweled gold cup held high in the hand of your God.
No more will anyone call you Rejected,
and your country will no more be called Ruined.
You’ll be called Hephzibah (My Delight),
    and your land Beulah (Married),
Because God delights in you
and your land will be like a wedding celebration.
For as a young man marries his virgin bride,
    so your builder marries you,
And as a bridegroom is happy in his bride,
so your God is happy with you.

This. Also. Jesus. His first miracle was at a wedding (John 2:1-11). There’s a parable with him as rhe bridegroom (Matthew 25:1-13). Marriage is analogous to the relationship Jesus has with the church (Ephesians 5:22-32).

6-7 I’ve posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem.
Day and night they keep at it, praying, calling out,
    reminding God to remember.
They are to give him no peace until he does what he said,
until he makes Jerusalem famous as the City of Praise.

I mean. It never hurts to remind God of what He said. He didn’t forget. But, it is helpful to us and shows Him we heard Him and expect Him to make good on it.

8-9 God has taken a solemn oath,
an oath he means to keep:
“Never again will I open your grain-filled barns
to your enemies to loot and eat.
Never again will foreigners drink the wine
that you worked so hard to produce.
No. The farmers who grow the food will eat the food
    and praise God for it.
And those who make the wine will drink the wine
    in my holy courtyards.”

Wine and vineyards again.

10-12 Walk out of the gates. Get going!
Get the road ready for the people.
Build the highway. Get at it!
    Clear the debris,
hoist high a flag, a signal to all peoples!
Yes! God has broadcast to all the world:
“Tell daughter Zion, ‘Look! Your Savior comes,
Ready to do what he said he’d do,
prepared to complete what he promised.’”
Zion will be called new names: Holy People, God-Redeemed,
    Sought-Out, City-Not-Forsaken.

Yas!

NAME OF GOD: El Shaddai

Pastor Tony Evans created a list of all the names of God and their pronunciations that can be found here. I broke each one down separately. However, I felt that it would be nice to have all of them in one place.

MEANING: Almighty God

VERSE: Genesis 17:1-2

KJ21 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him, “I am the Almighty God. Walk before Me, and be thou perfect. And I will make My covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.”

Old. That’s what 99 says. Not really in those times though cuz ppl were living for hundreds of years. But, when one considers the entire story of Abram/Abraham. Crazy.

I’m struggling with patience and some promises right now. I don’t see it. It doesn’t make sense. I want to believe and trust God. But. The time it’s taking and magnitude of the miracle are so far beyond me.

That’s what God specializes in. Someone told me God dreams bugger dreams for us than we dream for ourselves. I feel like I heard someone say if you could do it you wouldn’t need God so stuff has to be big in order for Him to be God. I may have added and I don’t wanna attribute it to the wrong person.

Faith. It’s hard. It’s worth it though. God and I have a track record. There’s a whole Bible of track record. It can be hard to see the forest for the trees. It’s in these moments that we have to be careful.

We gotta take it to God and not ppl or our feelings. I told Him I wanted to quit. But I know I can’t. He’s gonna do it. He has to. After I said I wanted to quit, I reflected on who He is and who He has been. That was enough to get it back together.

We are human and will have moments of fear and doubt. But like Pastor YPJ preached, don’t let a moment mess you up. That’s the summary. Lol.

ASV And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

Ion know how he was supposed to be perfect….maybe this is a case of translation. There are plenty of words translated from the original language that don’t quite mean what they were translated into.

Back to A. He had yet to have a child at 99 and God is over there talmbout multiply exceedingly. Bruh. But. Like my auntie said recently. I wonder what A and God had been through before we are introduced to him that made him chuck the deuces and go without much more than the word go.

AMP When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; Walk [habitually] before Me [with integrity, knowing that you are always in My presence], and be blameless and complete [in obedience to Me].
“I will establish My covenant (everlasting promise) between Me and you, And I will multiply you exceedingly [through your descendants].”

Okay. Perfect makes more sense per this here translation.

AMPC When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete). And I will make My covenant (solemn pledge) between Me and you and will multiply you exceedingly.

Here too. And. Solemn pledge.

BRG And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

CSB When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live in my presence and be blameless. I will set up my covenant between me and you, and I will multiply you greatly.”

CEB When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am El Shaddai. Walk with me and be trustworthy. I will make a covenant between us and I will give you many, many descendants.”

Be trustworthy. People talk about trusting God. But can God trust us??????

CJB When Avram was 99 years old Adonai appeared to Avram and said to him, “I am El Shaddai [God Almighty]. Walk in my presence and be pure-hearted. I will make my covenant between me and you, and I will increase your numbers greatly.”

Pure-hearted.

CEV Abram was ninety-nine years old when the Lord appeared to him again and said, “I am God All-Powerful. If you obey me and always do right,
I will keep my solemn promise to you and give you more descendants than can be counted.”

God All-Powerful.

DARBY And Abram was ninety-nine years old, when Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said to him, I [am] the Almighty God: walk before my face, and be perfect. And I will set my covenant between me and thee, and will very greatly multiply thee.

Walk before my face. To me that says know me. Looking someone in the face is one of the most important things you can do at times. People can show you their hand. Give you stuff. People can do stuff. People can say stuff. But if you look at their face while they are doing it, it can change everything. You can see their eyes. You can see the intention of their heart in their face. Unless they are a good liar with a great poker face. Hahahahahaha.

DRA And after he began to be ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee: and I will multiply thee exceedingly.

ERV When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. He said, “I am God All-Powerful. Obey me and live the right way. If you do this, I will prepare an agreement between us. I will promise to make your people a great nation.”

👍🏾

EHV When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless. I will make my covenant between me and you, and I will make your descendants very numerous.”

Okay. So it says the Lord appeared. Most of us say this is the first time God had an encounter with A. But, like my auntie said, what took place before? It is hard to fathom that he would just leave. But hey. The appearance of God is so seemingly, indescribable at times in the Bible. He may have been in such awe that he was like aight. We out. Lol.

ESV When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”

ESVUK When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”

EXB When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am ·God Almighty [L El Shaddai]. ·Obey [L Walk before] me and ·do what is right [L be innocent/blameless; Job 1:1].
I will make an ·agreement [covenant; treaty; 6:18] between ·us [L me and you], and I will make you ·the ancestor of many people [L exceedingly numerous].”

GNV 5 Abram’s name is changed to confirm him in the promise. 8 The land of Canaan is the fifth time promised. 12 Circumcision instituted. 15 Sarai is named Sarah. 18 Abraham prayeth for Ishmael. 19 Isaac is promised. 23 Abraham and his house are circumcised. When Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am God all sufficient, walk before me, and be thou upright, And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and I will multiply thee exceedingly

All. Sufficient. Everything we need.

GW When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. He said to Abram, “I am God Almighty. Live in my presence with integrity. I will give you my promise, and I will give you very many descendants.”

GNT When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the Almighty God. Obey me and always do what is right. I will make my covenant with you and give you many descendants.”

HCSB When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live in My presence and be blameless. I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you greatly.”

ICB When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. The Lord said, “I am God All-Powerful. Obey me and do what is right. I will make an agreement between us. I will make you the ancestor of many people.”

Not only is he the ancestor of the Jewish people, he is the ancestor of any believer who has faith and trusts in the promises of God. He dealt with the seemingly insurmountable and tests out of this world as it relates to faith and the promises of God. He kept on obeying. Trusting. Believing. Having faith. And God did ALL of what He said He would do.

ISV When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and announced, “I am God Almighty. Live in constant awareness that I’m always with you, and be blameless. I’ll establish my covenant between me and you, and I’ll greatly increase your numbers.”

Yo. Live in constant awareness that I’m always with you. Man.

TLB When Abram was ninety-nine years old, God appeared to him and told him, “I am the Almighty; obey me and live as you should. I will prepare a contract between us, guaranteeing to make you into a mighty nation. In fact you shall be the father of not only one nation, but a multitude of nations!” Abram fell face downward in the dust as God talked with him.

Live as you should. A contract. Ha. See what I mean. The ppl can’t handle His presence. My mans fell face downward in the dust.

MSG When Abram was ninety-nine years old, God showed up and said to him, “I am The Strong God, live entirely before me, live to the hilt! A had to do something. God didn’t say Ima do this and nothing is required of you. People wanna do whatever and live however and expect God to answer their prayers. Or they give God credit for stuff He has nothing to do with. I know I’ve said this before. But it bears repeating. We CANNOT receive all that God has for us if we are not surrendered and submitted to Him, His will, and what He requires of us. Periodt. And that’s on Mary had a little lamb whose name was Jesus. 🤣😂😉🙃

NLT When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.”

NAME OF GOD: Elohim Chaseddi

Pastor Tony Evans created a list of all the names of God and their pronunciations that can be found here. I broke each one down separately. However, I felt that it would be nice to have all of them in one place.

MEANING: The God of My Mercy

Verse: Psalm 59:10

KJ21 The God of my mercy shall go before me; God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

Shall. Go. Before. Me. Man. Also. Prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies Psalm 23:5 KJV

ASV My God with his lovingkindness will meet me: God will let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

Lovingkindness instead of mercy. Sheesh.

AMP My God in His [steadfast] lovingkindness will meet me; God will let me look triumphantly on my enemies [who lie in wait for me].

STEADFAST!!!! I’m weak. These are hit-ting tuhday!!!

AMPC My God in His mercy and steadfast love will meet me; God will let me look [triumphantly] on my enemies (those who lie in wait for me).

Now we got both mercy and steadfast love. Gaaaaaaaaah!

BRG The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

Prevent me. Keep me from some stuff. Usually mercy is looked at as something God gives when we don’t do right. But here. His mercy prevents, keeps you from stuff. My goodness.

CSB My faithful God will come to meet me; God will let me look down on my adversaries.

Faithful God. When we were dead in sins and trespasses (Ephesians 2:1 King James Version (KJV)) He was STILL there. Because he is FAITHFUL!!!

CEB My loving God will come to meet me. God will allow me to look down on my enemies.

I’m about to not have words. Loving God will come to meet me. Smh. For real.

CJB My Strength, I will watch for you, for God is my fortress.

I am fairly confident I didn’t pay attention when formatting this before reading it. I was singing William Murphy’s You Are My Strength. How much He cares for us…gosh. Watching denotes expecting. Expecting the strength of God.

CEV You love me and will let me see my enemies defeated.

Caaaaaaaares!!!

DARBY God, whose loving-kindness will come to meet me,—God shall let me see [my desire] upon mine enemies.

DRA Moab is the pot of my hope. Into Edom will I stretch out my shoe: to me the foreigners are made subject.

ERV God loves me, and he will help me win. He will help me defeat my enemies.

Will help me win. We are victorious because of the love of God.

EHV My merciful God will go ahead of me. God will make me look down on those who slander me.

Pastor Michael Todd is preaching a sermon series called Anchored. In one of the sermons he said God was already here when he was called and started pastoring six years ago. It was so profound to me. God was already here before we got here. He went ahead.

ESV My God in his steadfast love will meet me; God will let me look in triumph on my enemies.

Triump. Victory.

ESVUK My God in his steadfast love will meet me; God will let me look in triumph on my enemies.

EXB My God ·loves [is loyal to] me, and he goes in front of me. He will help me ·defeat [L look on] my enemies.

Yooooooo!

GNV My merciful God will prevent me: God will let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

GW God will come to meet me. He will let me gloat over those who spy on me.

Uh gloat is an interesting word choice cuz people usually say we shouldn’t gloat…

GNT My God loves me and will come to me; he will let me see my enemies defeated.

HCSB My faithful God will come to meet me; God will let me look down on my adversaries.

ICB My God loves me, and he will be with me. He will help me defeat my enemies.

He will be with me! Reminds me of Richard Smallwood with Vision’s song Trust Me.

ISV My God of Gracious Love will meet me; God will enable me to see what happens to my enemies.

God of gracious love. God of gracious love. Gracious love.

JUB The God of my mercy shall meet me on the way; God shall let me see my desire upon my enemies.

Meet me on the way. As I am going, as I am going through. Whatever is going on. God will meet me.

KJV The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

AKJV The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

LEB My God of loyal love will meet me; God will cause me to look in triumph on my enemies.

Loyal love.

TLB My God is changeless in his love for me, and he will come and help me. He will let me see my wish come true upon my enemies.

Changeless in His love. NO matter what His love does not change. My God!!!

MSG But you, God, break out laughing; you treat the godless nations like jokes. Strong God, I’m watching you do it, I can always count on you. God in dependable love shows up on time, shows me my enemies in ruin.

Tried and true steady MSG version with the great words.

MEV The God of lovingkindness will go before me; God will cause me to look in triumph on my enemies.

NOG Elohim will come to meet me. He will let me gloat over those who spy on me.

He won’t fail to save me according to Jude 24-25. I know where I’ll spend eternity because God won’t fail. Heaven and earth may pass away. But, God’s word will never fail Matthew 24:35.
