Proverbs 21 The Message (MSG)

God Examines Our Motives

1 Good leadership is a channel of water controlled by God;
    he directs it to whatever ends he chooses.

We justify our actions by appearances;
    God examines our motives.

Clean living before God and justice with our neighbors
    mean far more to God than religious performance.

Hmmm. America? You listening?

Arrogance and pride—distinguishing marks in the wicked—
    are just plain sin.

Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run;
    hurry and scurry puts you further behind.

Make it to the top by lying and cheating;
    get paid with smoke and a promotion—to death!

Smoke. I can’t.

The wicked get buried alive by their loot
    because they refuse to use it to help others.

Mixed motives twist life into tangles;
    pure motives take you straight down the road.

Do Your Best, Prepare for the Worst

Better to live alone in a tumbledown shack
    than share a mansion with a nagging spouse.

10 Wicked souls love to make trouble;
    they feel nothing for friends and neighbors.

11 Simpletons only learn the hard way,
    but the wise learn by listening.

Simpletons. This translation makes this author sound super petty. Throughout much of it. Honestly, I’m here for it. Make it plain. Lol.

12 A God-loyal person will see right through the wicked
    and undo the evil they’ve planned.

13 If you stop your ears to the cries of the poor,
    your cries will go unheard, unanswered.

14 A quietly given gift soothes an irritable person;
    a heartfelt present cools a hot temper.

15 Good people celebrate when justice triumphs,
    but for the workers of evil it’s a bad day.

16 Whoever wanders off the straight and narrow
    ends up in a congregation of ghosts.

Matthew 7:13-14

17 You’re addicted to thrills? What an empty life!
    The pursuit of pleasure is never satisfied.

18 What a bad person plots against the good, boomerangs;
    the plotter gets it in the end.

19 Better to live in a tent in the wild
    than with a cross and petulant spouse.

20 Valuables are safe in a wise person’s home;
    fools put it all out for yard sales.

21 Whoever goes hunting for what is right and kind
    finds life itself—glorious life!

22 One sage entered a whole city of armed soldiers—
    their trusted defenses fell to pieces!

23 Watch your words and hold your tongue;
    you’ll save yourself a lot of grief.

1 Thessalonians 4:11

24 You know their names—Brash, Impudent, Blasphemer—
    intemperate hotheads, every one.

25 Lazy people finally die of hunger
    because they won’t get up and go to work.

26 Sinners are always wanting what they don’t have;
    the God-loyal are always giving what they do have.

27 Religious performance by the wicked stinks;
    it’s even worse when they use it to get ahead.

28 A lying witness is unconvincing;
    a person who speaks truth is respected.

29 Unscrupulous people fake it a lot;
    honest people are sure of their steps.

30 Nothing clever, nothing conceived, nothing contrived,
    can get the better of God.

31 Do your best, prepare for the worst—
    then trust God to bring victory.

Yaaaaaaaas!

Live

I’m sitting doing my hair and listening to my lil Christian/Gospel music.

I have several unwritten drafts. Relationship wasn’t one of them. The unwritten ones require more time than I’ve carved out since I got the inspo. Ima get to them.

I feel like I stay fussing or correcting. But I don’t feel bad. Jeremiah is called the weeping prophet. But he was and his words are bomb.

There’s plenty of saccharine, sweet, positive, good, prosperity, little accountability words floating around. That ain’t me. Ima keep going in my lane.

God promises us things. Good things. But so many focus on His hand and not what is required to obtain His promises. Ima talk about standards and the holistic Christianity of the Bible.

Waaaaay off. Two different songs that play today talked about living. Not I’m Alive. Lol. Go check that post out.

I need someone to know that they need to live. Suicide isn’t the answer. Wallowing in depression isn’t the answer.

I wanted to die. I was depressed. It was overwhelming. I saw no way out at the time. But it got better. Jesus and I got tight.

Everything in my life isn’t perfect. Honestly, from the outside it is a MESS right now. But I know what God said. I know why. I trust Him. I have hope in Him.

I see how He’s come through for people in the Bible. I remember how He’s come through for me.

Focusing on Him and His Word gives me peace. It gives me joy. He makes life worth living. It’s not easy. At all. But soooooo worth it. The peace and emotional and mental stability is PRICELESS. Try it. I dare you. 🙂

I’m Alive

I’m sitting in God’s beautiful creating in a temp that has dropped to 35. It’s 10 at home. So there’s that…

I’m listening to Rich Tolbert Jr.’s song Alive. Lyrics below.

God knows the plans he has for us, great plans
He controls it all
The reason why we’re alive is because God is in control
Hmm the reason why there’s more, the reason why there’s a next
Is because God is in control, hallelujah, thank you JesusGod knows the plans
He has for me
He knows the thoughts
He thinks toward me
And nothing is an accident
I’m alive, because there’s more
C’mon
God knows the plans
He has for me
He knows the thoughts
He thinks toward me
And nothing is an accident
I’m alive, because there’s more moreI’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
And this is not an accident
I’m alive, because there’s moreGod knows the plans (God knows the plans)
He has for me (he has for me)
He knows the thoughts
He thinks toward me
And nothing is an accident
I’m alive, because there’s moreGod knows the plans (God knows the plans)
He has for me (he has for me)
He knows the thoughts
He thinks toward me
And nothing is an accident
I’m alive, because there’s moreI’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
And this is not an accident
I’m alive, because there’s more
(Sing I’m alive)
I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
And this is not an accident
I’m alive, because there’s moreHe didn’t let me die, let me die
(He didn’t) let me die, let me die
And this is not an accident
I’m alive because there’s moreHe didn’t let me die, let me die
Let me die, let me die
And this is not an accident
I’m alive because there’s moreThis is not the end, not the end
(This is not) the end, not the end
And this is not an accident
I’m alive because there’s moreThere is more, there is more
There is more, there is more
And this is not an accident
I’m alive, because there’s moreAnd I am not an accident
I’m alive, because there’s more
And I am not an accident
I’m alive, because there’s moreI’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s moreI’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more
I’m alive, because there’s more

I know that’s a lot. This song resonates with me.

I’m fairly confident some post on here references this, but there was a time I prayed to die. Life wasn’t worth living to me.

How crazy that I would ask God to destroy His own creation. It was rough. I was depressed and the people around me made me feel worthless, as though nothing about me was good enough.

I’ve also been in multiple car accidents and some near misses.

If left up to me and the enemy, I would be dead.

God said no. There was more.

If the holidays and this 2020 life have you considering ending it all, don’t. I promise it gets better. Try Jesus. Best decision I’ve ever made!
