One day I decided to read the wall of the courtroom at school. I never heard this quote before. It was always “I Have a Dream” or other quotes.
But this quote resonated with who I am at my core. And it became one of, if not, my favorite quotes.
He was aware that all lives matter so he fought to ensure that people realized black lives matter.
He worked toward inclusive love not divisive hate selflessly giving his time, ultimately his life.
In a day and age where we are seemingly closer to while never further from the truths he held to be self evident, we would do well to embrace this quote.
Maybe one day we will see the content of character rather than the color of skin. Maybe one day the justice that threatens others can become a threat to us all.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
